Process and Equipment Health Monitoring (PHM/EHM) Engineer


Job Role Summary
  • Develop and deploy real-time model-based process and equipment health monitoring applications using design guidelines, current and historical operations data, and process flow diagrams provided by site contacts
  • Conduct model development using simulation platforms with input from sites, subject matter experts, technology specialists, and peers
  • Assume ownership of assigned work and take responsibility for completion
  • Lead technical review of applications and monitor application status (pre-sustainment)
  • Engage in monitoring activities and meetings to provide technical support to operating sites for deployed applications
  • Pro-active sustainment of assigned technologies or applications to deliver value and initiate dialogue with site users where necessary to investigate issues with application performance and results based on endorsed Critical Parameter Lists
  • Train new site users on monitoring technology and assist users with application installation and configuration
  • Identify opportunities to improve application health and leverage synergies with other overlapping technologies
  • Provide inputs to improve effectiveness and utility of existing work processes
  • Improve documentation for both deployment and sustainment/troubleshooting activities
  • Work closely with infrastructure support to promote standardization

Expected Level of Proficiency
  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering or higher degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Knowledge of unit operations, fractionation, distillation towers, heat exchangers, reactors, etc. and how to complete heat and material balances
  • Ability to read a process flow diagram/P&ID
  • Strong analytical (sequential logic-based approach) skills
  • Demonstrate engineering attributes such as attention to details, highly organized, good math/analytical skills, practical use of physics and chemistry principles
  • Demonstrate desire for computer-based work, keen to learn and understand scripting/programming languages
  • Strong communication skills, teamwork and global interactions
  • Interest in a technical career in process modeling and simulation
  • Experience in process simulation tools such as ROMeo, PRO II, Hysys is highly preferred
  • Exposure to petroleum refinery or petrochemical plant operations preferred
